The Tale of Ropeway Evolution

  • The Ropeway line was constructed in 2008 by a collaboration of UIT and Omkareshwar Tradelinks Private Limited. 
  • Initially, red Gondolas were equipped to the lines; there were several incidents of ropeway failure when gondolas stuck in mid-air for quite a time.
  • Later, colourful gondolas were installed which are now maintained well and ensure a hassle-free ride.

1. The Karni Mata Temple: 

  • This ancient temple was built between 1620 to 1628, as it was located on the top of the hill and people had to trek to reach its premises it stayed secluded for several years.
  • In 1997 the Manshapurna Karni Mata Temple Committee restored the temple and staircase up the hill.  
  • Several devotees then started climbing the long staircase built on the hill to seek blessings of the Karni Goddess. 
  • Earlier several people were not physically fit to strain on the stairs.
  • Their devotion to the goddess was later heard when RopewayRopeway was introduced.
  • Still, several people prefer the staircase to reach the temple, which can be accessed from the Manik Lal Verma Park near Lake Pichola.

2. Jaw-Dropping View

How to Access Ropeway?

  • The Ropeway Station can be accessed from the Deendayal Park near Lake Pichola.
  • You can hire a cab and ask them to ‘Drive to the Musical Garden near Lake Pichola’, these instructions will specific and will help you reach the location in no time.
  • If you’ve rented self-driven vehicles, then you can just drive straight to the Lake Pichola, and on reaching ask nearby shop vendors for the exact location of the Ropeway station.
