This alluring garden was built in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh, and it rests on the bank of Fateh Sagar Lake. The park bestows many wondrous attractions like a fountain, a Lotus pool, and Elephant sculptures made of marble. As the name says it all, Saheliyon Ki Bari was made for the maids of the Queen of Maharana Sangram Singh.

A Quick Gander Into the History of Saheliyon KI Bari

Saheliyon Ki Bari was built in 1734 by Maharana Sangram Singh for his Queen and her forty-eight maids. This majestic garden was designed by the King himself and then presented to his love, the Queen.

As per the legendary tales, the Queen was escorted by forty-eight maids in her marriage. This garden was built to offer all of them the best moments of secrecy and privacy away from the political titillates.

It was a royal retreat for the aristocratic ladies of Mewar. The Queen often visited Saheliyon Ki Bari for spending quality time. Years later, Maharana Bhupal Singh added some essence of European culture by adding some more imported fountains that further glorified its beauty.

Atop these chhatris are placed bird statues that spout water through its beak, giving it a raining effect — love and amour spill from every bit of its artefacts.

Picked from the fairy tales and placed into the real world is what this beauty is all about. The entire blend of eastern carvings aggrandises the western solemnity of the fountains.
