Monsoon is a blessing and an escape from the scorching heat of summer. With the first rainfall, people get engrossed to excavate their raincoats and umbrellas. In Udaipur, monsoon is not just a season but a festival to celebrate. People move out of their homes to reach every possible place that offers them the most of Mother Nature. Bagheri Ka Naka is one such place that gets flooded with people every monsoon and becomes a haven for nature lovers.

It is a small dam that’s approximately 50 km away from Udaipur city. It is named after Bagheri – a small rural region in Udaipur. The Bagheri Ka Naka dam falls under the Rajsamand district. It was constructed over the Banas River to suffice the basic water needs of the public – drinking, cooking, washing, and irrigation. Initially launched to support the necessities to sustain life, Bagheri Ka Naka has now become one of the favourite tourist spots in Udaipur.

The attraction of the dam increases by manifold during the rainy season when it is filled up to the brim and starts to overflow. Perched in the lap of the lush green Aravali Ranges, this heavenly waterfall is bestowed with a beauteous backdrop perfect for the nature shutterbugs. The whole place is picturesque. Monsoon puts nature in a separate league of motion – flowers blossom with a boom, and the rivers flow in full swing. The mountains awaken after a deep sleep, and ultimately the sparking rains decorate the entire valley with tiny waterfalls. It feels as if you are living in some charming chapter of a nature-oriented fairy-tale.

To-Do-List at Bagheri Ka Naka

  • Carry enough refreshments along with yourself, as there aren’t many shops and restaurants around to serve you. It’s more of a picnic spot. Hence it’s always good to be self-sufficient with the basics.
  • The dam has broad steps near the waterfall. You can gain access to the reservoir at the base, where you can take a leisurely swim or sit relaxed with your feet soaked in water. But, don’t get carried away in all this fun! Be extra cautious as the base is slippery (for obvious reasons) and may lead to a tragedy if ignored.
  • Beware of the deep segment in the water, if you are visiting with kids and non-swimmers. As they say, “It’s always good to be safe than sorry”, never take your safety for granted. Take a gander at a depth of the water body before diving in.
  • It’s a picturesque landscape at all 360 degrees. So don’t forget to carry your smartphones or cameras. We don’t want you to miss on even a small chance of capturing these spiritual and dramatic views of the region.
  • There’s a pathway following the foot of the dam that has the most spectacular view of the hills and mountains around. Kindly wear comfortable shoes while walking on it to avoid falling off and hurting yourself.
  • Carry pocket trash bins (yes, they exist!) to dispose of all the garbage. As it’s an open place with beauty pouring everywhere, there isn’t any trash box facility. Kindly protect the damn nature!
  • Last but not least, don’t forget to carry your swimsuits, umbrellas, and raincoats. Dive into Mother Nature’s womb and rejuvenate your spirit!
